THE VENICE CARNIVAL 2011
Venice Carnival 2011 will be a tribute to Women and the Unity of Italy
The suggestions were mainly two, in the particular calendar date of 2011: the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy and the coincidence of Mardi Gras on March 8, International Women's Day.
The Carnival of Venice, if not the most spectacular, is certainly the best known for its appeal to the mystery and continues to hold even now that 900 years have elapsed from the first document that refers to this famous festival. The 2011 edition will be longer than a week and it will be closed with a silent rowing race along the Grand Canal. This event will be lighted by thousands of candles. Among other the special opening of Ca 'Vendramin Calergi, home to the Venice Casino.
The program for this year will grow from Saturday, February 26, March 8, with a prologue in the previous weekend, or that of February 19 to 20.

Saturday, February 19
TOAST TO GREAT VENICE: from 19.00 to 20.00
The Carnival opens with "Great toast in Venice, " a joyful and elegant "cheers" with which the Venetians and tourists will officially welcome the Carnival. This opens upthe dances in San Marco square, to the tune of the most famous Brindiam! VENETIAN FESTIVAL: from 10.00 to 13.00

FEAST OF MARIE: With the traditional "Festa delle Marie" is officially opened the carnival with a procession of twelve girls selected Venetian in recent weeks.
